Our Story

Rooted in the
Piedmont Soil

Front Porch Vineyards sits on 40 acres of red clay and pine woodland along Hixburg Road, where the Virginia Piedmont meets the Blackwater River watershed. We began planting vines in 2009 — not as a hobby, but as a conviction that this land could produce wine worth traveling for.

Today we farm over 12 varietals, from classic French hybrids that thrive in our humid climate to experimental blends that push the boundaries of what Virginia wine can be. Everything is hand-pruned, hand-harvested, and bottled on-site in our small production facility.

Our philosophy is straightforward: let the vineyard speak. We intervene minimally, ferment naturally, and age in neutral oak so the character of our terroir — the iron-rich red clay, the long warm growing season — comes through in every glass.
